Director Christopher Nolan's upcoming project is a modern film adaptation of Homer's "The Odyssey," set to hit IMAX screens in 2026.
Universal Pictures announced on X, "Christopher Nolan’s next film ‘The Odyssey’ is a mythic action epic filmed worldwide using cutting-edge IMAX technology. The film introduces Homer’s foundational saga to IMAX screens for the first time, premiering in theaters globally on July 17, 2026."

Homer's epic poem "The Odyssey" narrates the adventures of the Greek hero Odysseus, the King of Ithaca, as he undertakes a ten-year journey from Troy back to Ithaca after the Trojan War, facing numerous challenges like a Cyclops and the Sirens along the way.
According to Deadline, the film will reportedly feature Tom Holland, Zendaya, Matt Damon, Robert Pattinson, Anne Hathaway, Lupita Nyong’o, and Charlize Theron.
"The Odyssey" marks Nolan's second collaboration with Universal Pictures, following "Oppenheimer," which was released with the distributor in 2023. That film won seven Academy Awards, including Best Picture, Best Director for Nolan, and Best Actor for Cillian Murphy.
Nolan has also directed other major successes such as "The Dark Knight" series, "Interstellar," "Dunkirk," and "Inception."
